Hi everyone!
I'm Jonathan and i'm an alcoholic! ohh, i meant techie!
Setting up this new blog so I can share my experiences with computer systems to the whole. Hopefully, I'd be able to help others with tips and Q&As on their technical problems.
But first, let me tell you who I am.
I'm an IT professional who has been involved with many different aspects of Information Technology. I am a Filipino and I'm currently based in Singapore.
I started out as a programmer for a multinational company, working mostly on books and print media. With the evolution of technology, we got involved more on web-based services so I had the chance, and I still do, to work on large scale website portals. Many of my projects are heavily data-driven, and I have been a DBA on some of my projects, which includes a real-time data replication between Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, and India.
I have since moved to network and server administration, working on Windows servers, Cisco firewalls and a distributed network of users in 15 countries in Asia. I oversee a datacenter and the company's regional infrastructure which includes securiy and general IT policies, asset management, server management, and right now making sure my company passes its yearly IT audits.
My experiences in these various fields allow me to become a 'solutions provider' for my company, and I am able to draw solutions without the boundaries of say, software or hardware, alone.
I hope that through this blogs, and by sharing my past and future experiences, I'd be help other as well.
